Eileen Pandjaitan Presents Contrast in the Music Video Shooting Star

JAKARTA - After the release of the single "Shooting Star" on digital music platforms two weeks ago, Eileen Pandjaitan launched the music video for her new work.

Unlike the song's narrative - where the main character is alone in a cafe, then memories of someone reappear - Eileen instead chose the natural setting of Bali as the background for the music video.

Not stopping there, the shooting was carried out during the day, which was in contrast to the title of his song, "falling stars", which was only found at night.

Ei—the stage name used by Eileen—is well aware that the music video presented is very different from the song's narrative. However, there is one small part that is presented to represent the lyrics of the song, namely the appearance of a table to describe the place where Ei as the main character meets the person he misses.

"It's a bit of a contrast. If we think about 'Shooting Star', we'll think it's like night, and there are stars. But the music video is actually in the morning, there's sunlight, outside, and things like that," said Ei, during a virtual interview with VOI, Wednesday, December 24.

"We had a really funny idea to put one table in an outdoor scene, and that table represents the cafe where we met," he continued.

The natural Bali as the background of the music video, emerged from Ei's own desire. For the girl who is studying at the Berklee College of Music, there is a kind of desire to show the beauty of Indonesian nature.

"I really wanted the scene to be outdoors because when we were shooting, I went back to Indonesia for a few months and I really wanted to capture and showcase the beauty of 'home'. Because if I shoot at Berklee, it's like everything is so different. So, I really want to feel at home again," he said. "And also for me, 'Shooting Star' was also written in Indonesia. The place we met is Indonesia."

Ei himself describes "Shooting Star" as a song that depicts a person's hope in a relationship.

"Shooting Star is a hopeful song, in terms of relationships. The lyrics highlight that I'm still waiting, I'll stay here, in the first place we met. And I think it's very sweet and hopeful," he concluded.
