Petral Case Continues to be Investigated, Kejaksaan Coordinates Cross-Agency for the Return of Riza Chalid

JAKARTA - The case of alleged corruption at Pertamina Energy Trading Ltd (Petral) is still related to the corruption case of crude oil and refinery products in the environment of PT Pertamina subholding which ensnared businessman M Riza Chalid. The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has also named Riza Chalid as a fugitive.

The Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General's Office, Febrie Adriansyah, emphasized that the investigation into the Petral case was still ongoing and was currently being investigated by the investigation team. He also ensured coordination between the Attorney General's Office and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the handling of the case.

According to him, cross-agency coordination is needed to align perceptions, especially related to technical investigations.

"This will be coordinated. There are likely to be several different things, especially in the technical aspects of the investigation. These small things need to be discussed together. That's why we are looking at this Petral as a whole," he said when met at the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia, South Jakarta, Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

He also confirmed that the Petral case had a connection with Riza Chalid. In fact, he said, investigators had first processed Riza Chalid's children in the series of cases.

"It has to do with Riza Chalid, various things. Here, there is already Riza Chalid's son, so we will deepen Petral," he explained.

Regarding the fate of Riza Chalid, who has been a fugitive, Febrie said the Attorney General's Office is still trying to bring him back to Indonesia. Currently, the pursuit process is carried out through coordination with Interpol.

"It's still a process. We coordinate with Interpol. Hopefully it can be, because there has been openness," he said.

When asked about the examination of former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said, as well as the KPK's statement that opened the possibility of transferring the Petral case, Febrie again emphasized the importance of coordination.

"Later we will coordinate. Because here it is related to the examination and the suspect Riza Chalid, as well as Petral. We will see later which one is coordinated, which one is handled by the KPK and which one is still in the Attorney General's Office. But it's not the end, it's still deepening the evidence," he explained.

According to Febrie, investigators are currently still focusing on unraveling the construction of the case, including the modus and form of the alleged criminal acts that occurred. Including pursuing Riza Chalid,

"We are still investigating the whole thing, what the pattern is, what the shape is like," he concluded.
