PKB Will Not Rush to Find Ma'ruf Amin's Replacement

JAKARTA - The Central Board of Trustees of the National Awakening Party (DPP PKB) said it would not rush to find a replacement for former Vice President Ma'ruf Amin who had resigned as Chairman of the Syura Council.

"We are not in a hurry to have to find a replacement for him," said PKB DPP Chairman Luluk Nur Hamidah as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 24.

According to Luluk, the PKB DPP is not in a hurry because the organization is still running as usual, even though Ma'ruf Amin has resigned.

Moreover, he said, the party's work was carried out by all DPP PKB managers according to their respective fields.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the PKB DPP Daniel Johan estimated that the process of replacing the Chairman of the Syura Council would involve the kiai.

"Until now, based on the murmur of the elderly kiai," he explained.

Previously, on December 23, 2025, Ma'ruf Amin's spokesperson and MUI Information, Communication, and Digital Chairman Masduki Baidlowi said the former Vice President resigned from the position of Chairman of the MUI Advisory Council, as well as Chairman of the DPP PKB Shura Council.

The resignation letter to MUI Chairman Anwar Iskandar was addressed on November 28, 2025.

"It's time for me to take a break and resign from the MUI leadership, for the sake of regeneration of duties and responsibilities to other figures who are younger and more competent," Ma'ruf said in the letter.

On December 24, 2025, the Head of the Information and Technology Communication Sector of the PKB DPP, Ahmad Iman Sukri, confirmed that Ma'ruf Amin had resigned as Chairman of the Syura Council a long time ago.

"Regarding Kiai Ma'ruf Amin resigning, it has been a long time," said Iman when contacted by ANTARA from Jakarta, Wednesday.

He explained that Ma'ruf Amin had submitted his resignation to the Chairman of the PKB DPP Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, namely regarding uzlah or self-exile to focus on worship to Allah SWT.
