Menag invites Christians to care for love, faith and hope of the family
JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar invites Christians to interpret this year's Christmas as a call to return to caring for the family, the first place where love, faith, and hope are born.
With the theme of Christmas 2025, 'Allah is Coming to Save the Family', the Minister of Religion emphasized that the family is the heart of national life. From homes that are intact and full of love, a strong church is born, a harmonious community, and an Indonesia that hopes.
"If families are restored, then the church will grow. If the church is strong, the community will be harmonious. And if our families are strong, this nation will rediscover its direction and hope," said the Minister of Religion as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 24.
According to the Minister of Religion, in the midst of polarization, economic pressure, and the impact of disasters that many families are still feeling, the home must return to being a safe space for faith and humanity.
Therefore, the Ministry of Religion places strengthening family resilience as one of the strategic agendas. Families not only educate children, but instill the values of moderation, empathy, and social responsibility from an early age.
"A spiritually and socially healthy family is the most solid foundation for a peaceful and civilized Indonesia," he said.
Christmas is also interpreted by the Minister of Religion as a call for faith to care for the earth. In the face of the climate crisis and environmental damage, every family is called to be part of the solution.
"Faith must touch the way we live. Reducing plastic, planting trees, saving energy, that is our form of gratitude to God for His creation," he said.
The Minister of Religion reminded that Christmas 2025 took place in the midst of the grief of many fellow countrymen who were affected by the disaster. Therefore, Christmas should not be celebrated by forgetting those who are losing.
"The strength of Christmas is not in the luxury of celebration, but in the courage to share the burden with those who are wounded," he said.
The Minister of Religion hopes that Christmas will be a space for cross-border meetings, a place where solidarity and humanity will find their meaning again.
"Let's make families a harbor of saving love, as well as guardians of the universe that God has entrusted. Merry Christmas 2025 and welcome the New Year 2026," said the Minister of Religion.
