Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) asked Christians to pray for flood victims in Sumatra.
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Djamari Chaniago invited Christians to pray for the victims of floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, during the Christmas Eve Mass.
"We invite the people to pray for our brothers and sisters who are suffering from disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra," said Djamari while reviewing the implementation of the Christmas Eve Mass at the Cathedral Church, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 24.
Djamari was present with a number of high-ranking state officials such as the TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno, to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung,
They were present to greet the congregation and ensure that the Christmas Eve Mass process at the Jakarta Cathedral Church, took place in a solemn manner.
Djamari said that in the midst of Christmas joy, the congregation was invited to remember those who should be able to celebrate and carry out worship as they are now, but are hindered by conditions that are not possible.
"We convey to the people to pray for them to overcome all this, including praying for the government to be able to solve all this," he said.
Previously, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, who led the greeting at the main hall of the Cathedral Church, hoped that the Christmas celebration could provide peace, love, and hope that Christmas would illuminate every family and the steps of the people.
"May the peace, love, and hope of Christmas be present in every family and illuminate our steps. Born in the midst of limitations, the light that shines in the midst of darkness," said Pratikno.
He also invited the people to pray for their fellow countrymen who were in trouble, especially in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra due to floods and landslides.
"In various regions, especially in Sumatra, our brothers and sisters still have to fight against disasters, some celebrate Christmas away from home with limitations, some celebrate Christmas in refugee camps," said Pratikno.
