Noname057 admits hacking the French Post's headquarters ahead of Christmas 2025, state intelligence moves

JAKARTA - The Noname057 hacker group claims to be responsible for a major cyber attack targeting the French postal headquarters service.

The Paris Prosecutor's Office said on Wednesday, December 24, that the cyber attack stopped the delivery of French postal packages ahead of Christmas Day 2025.

Citing AP, the French intelligence agency DGSI took over the investigation of the hacking attack after Noname057 claimed responsibility.

Noname057, who is said to be pro-Russian, is not the only time he has taken action, previously the hacker group had been accused of carrying out other cyber attacks in Europe, including around the NATO summit in the Netherlands and the French government's website.

The group has been the target of a major European police operation earlier this year.

A distributed denial of service (DDoS) cyber attack left the computer system of France's national postal service 'La Poste' disabled on Monday this week. The attack was not completely resolved until Wednesday morning.

As a result of the attack, postal workers were unable to track package deliveries, and online payments at the company's banking branches were also disrupted.

It is a major blow for La Poste, which delivered 2.6 billion parcels last year and employs more than 200,000 people, during the busiest season of the year.
