BNI Presents Trauma Healing for Children of Flood Victims in South East Aceh
JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI has also accompanied the psychosocial recovery of children affected by flash floods in Leuser Village, South East Aceh Regency. This effort confirms BNI's commitment in post-disaster recovery which does not only focus on physical and logistical assistance, but also on mental recovery and psychological well-being of vulnerable groups, especially children.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that the trauma healing service provided is part of the company's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) policy which is oriented towards sustainable recovery. Together with the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Family through the BUMN Peduli 'One Heart for Sumatra' program under the coordination of Danantara, BNI provides psychosocial assistance for children victims of disasters.
"BNI considers that post-disaster recovery must be carried out comprehensively. Not only rebuilding physically, but also ensuring the mental health and psychosocial well-being of children as the future generation is maintained," Okki said in a written statement.
This trauma healing activity is one of the quick impacts of the BNI Berbagi program series carried out at the BUMN Leuser Village Volunteer Post. By involving experienced facilitators in accompanying children in disaster areas, this activity is designed as a safe space so that children can play, interact, and express their feelings in a positive way.
Through the approach of playing, art, and social interaction, children are gradually invited to reduce fear, channel emotions, and rebuild confidence after the disaster. Various activities are carried out, ranging from simple group games, singing, to movement songs that aim to create a safe atmosphere and support the psychological recovery process.
"Warm and empathetic interactions between volunteers and children are an important part of this assistance, so that the recovery process can run naturally and sustainably," added Okki.
The presence of BUMN volunteers together with BNI Berbagi in the midst of the Leuser Village children also conveyed a message that the affected community is not alone in facing the difficult post-disaster situation. Children as vulnerable groups need special assistance so that recovery can take place in its entirety, both physically and psychologically.
In the future, similar activities will be gradually expanded at other BNI posts in the South East Aceh, North Aceh, and Tamiang Aceh regions, in line with BNI's commitment to supporting inclusive and sustainable recovery for disaster-affected communities.
Through the BNI Berbagi program and the BUMN Peduli synergy, BNI emphasizes its commitment to continue to play an active role in supporting post-disaster recovery, believing that the recovery of children's psychological conditions is an important foundation for the revival of a more resilient community.
