Find the Black Box, Turkey Reveals the Cause of the Plane Crash that Killed the Libyan Military Commander
JAKARTA - Turkish authorities have found a voice recorder and a flight data recorder or black box from a private jet that crashed shortly after taking off from the capital Ankara.
The private jet crash on Tuesday, December 23, killed the head of the Libyan armed forces and four of his aides.
"The process of examination and evaluation of this device has been initiated by the relevant authorities," Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Wednesday morning, December 24, as quoted by AFP.
Turkish officials said the Falcon 50 private jet requested an emergency landing due to a power failure minutes after takeoff, but then contact was lost.
The request for the plane was while it was on its way back to Tripoli.
The debris was found by Turkish security personnel in the Haymana district near Ankara.
The Tripoli-based Libyan government confirmed the death of Libyan military commander General Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad and his staff in the accident.
