The Latest Suzuki Wagon R Launched for Rp100 Million, Fuel Consumption 25 Km per Liter

JAKARTA - Suzuki Motor Corporation recently refreshed the Suzuki Wagon R for the Japanese market. This 2026 model not only received minor touches, but a significant change in approach, ranging from exterior design to improved safety technology.

The most noticeable step is on the front of the face, Suzuki now removes the plain look on the standard variant and standardizes the design with the more assertive Wagon R Custom Z style. All types come with a three-dimensional textured grille that gives a more modern and classy impression.

The color options are also expanded through the presence of Velvet Dark Red Pearl and Lucent Beige Pearl Metallic. Entering the cabin, the typical practical feel of kei cars is combined with the latest technology. A 4.2-inch color multi-information screen is now standard equipment in all variants.

Suzuki also differentiates the interior character through the color of the instrument panel, namely the Hybrid ZX carries Graphite Dark Gray, while the ZL variant comes with a warmer Bordeaux accent. For comfort in the Japanese four-season climate, the highest Hybrid ZX variant is equipped with a steering wheel heating feature.

This feature is considered luxurious in the small car class and confirms Suzuki's efforts to increase the driving experience without sacrificing economic character. Safety matters are also strengthened through the latest generation of Suzuki Safety Support.

Launching from Suzuki's official website, Wednesday, December 24, this system includes Dual Sensor Brake Support II which is able to detect pedestrians and cyclists when the car turns at intersections, as well as Lane Departure Prevention which actively helps keep the car on track.

Behind the engine hood, the Wagon R still relies on a three-cylinder R06D engine with a capacity of 660 cc. For the Hybrid ZX variant, the mild hybrid technology is claimed to be able to record fuel consumption of up to 25.1 km per liter based on the WLTC method.

Interestingly, Suzuki still maintains a five-speed manual transmission (5MT) on the ZL variant, alongside a CVT option for consumers who prioritize ease. As for the price, the Suzuki Wagon R ZL is marketed starting at 1.43 million yen or around Rp. 153 million.

Meanwhile, the ZX Hybrid variant is priced starting at 1.70 million yen or equivalent to Rp. 182 million. The four-wheel drive (4WD) option is available in all variants with an additional cost of 120 thousand yen, with the new Wagon R still positioned as a compact, fuel-efficient urban vehicle, but now appears safer and more characterful.
