Ahead of Christmas, the Minister of Transportation ensures that the flow of crossing Java-Sumatera is smooth.
JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi ensures that the cross-Java-Sumatra crossing flows run smoothly and under control ahead of the 2025 Christmas celebration.
The certainty was conveyed after directly reviewing a number of transport nodes at the crossing in the Banten area, Wednesday morning, December 24.
During the review, Dudy visited the Merak Port, Ciwandan Port, to the BBJ Bojonegara Port to ensure the readiness of infrastructure, operations, and services to users of the crossing service.
Dudy said that passenger and logistics transportation movements went smoothly ahead of the 2025 Christmas celebration.
"The crossing activity for the Java-Sumatra crossing is currently relatively under control. Everything goes smoothly, orderly, and safely," said Dudy in an official statement, Wednesday, December 24.
At Merak Port, Dudy reviewed the readiness of Executive Terminal 1 and monitored operational conditions through CCTV systems in the port control room. This monitoring is carried out to ensure that passenger and vehicle traffic can be served well ahead of the Christmas movement peak.
The review continued to Ciwandan Port, especially in the 7 Wharf area which serves logistics vehicles. Dudy also held a dialogue with a number of truck drivers who were waiting for their turn to enter the ship.
"The condition of Ciwandan is also relatively smooth and conducive. We hope that the public can travel comfortably and continue to comply with existing rules and directions from officers in the field," said Dudy.
Dudy also ensured that the infrastructure and operations of the BBJ Bojonegara port could effectively serve passengers.
The Ministry of Transportation continues to coordinate with related stakeholders to support the smooth movement of cross-Java-Sumatra crossing passengers during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 periods.
Dudy also reminded passengers of the crossing transport to always anticipate the potential for extreme weather that can affect shipping activities.
"Sometimes there are high waves that make it difficult for the ship to lean and make the crossing delayed. For this reason, make sure to always update the latest information, use the 24-hour call service," he added.
