Denny Sumargo Sentil Kedubes Inggris Usai Bonni Blue Diduga Hina Bendera Indonesia

JAKARTA - The well-known actor and content creator, Denny Sumargo, recently delivered a clear and emotional open message to the British Embassy in Indonesia.

This message is a sequel to the unseemly action of one of the British citizens, Bonnie Blue, who was considered to have harassed the Red and White flag.

Through a post on his social media, the man who is familiarly called Densu strongly condemned the action and reminded that the flag for the Indonesian nation is not just a cloth, but a sacred symbol of struggle.

In his statement delivered in English, Denny emphasized that Indonesia's independence was achieved with great sacrifices.

"The actions of one of your citizens are very shameful and despicable. Our flag is the result of the blood, suffering, and sacrifice of our heroes and ancestors," Denny said in a firm tone, quoted by VOI from his personal Instagram, Wednesday, December 24.

He also added that when the symbols of the country are spat on or not respected, it is not a joke, but a direct insult to the dignity of the nation.

Denny Sumargo also highlighted the tendency of foreign citizens who feel higher in position because of their country of origin. He reminded that no one should look down on Indonesia just because of the strength of the passport or the colonial history of the past.

"Never assume that your position is higher because of your passport or your colonial history. We may not be a perfect nation, we know that. But we are not stupid, and we are not low," he said.

Closing his message, Denny Sumargo gave a stern warning that the Indonesian nation knows when to be calm, but also knows when to stand up to defend its honor. For him, trampling on the flag is the same as trampling on the honor of all Indonesian people.

"Respect us, or face the reality that this nation will not stay silent," concluded Denny.
