Jogja Full of Tourists, Bantul Adds Distribution Collectors to 3 Times
BANTUL - The Bantul Regency Tourism Office, Yogyakarta Special Region, has increased the number of collection personnel at the tourist collection (TPR) up to three times in anticipation of a surge in tourist visits during the 2025 Christmas and New Year holidays (Nataru).
The Head of the Bantul Tourism Office, Saryadi, said that the number of personnel on standby at the tourist TPR for the service of purchasing entrance tickets at all tourist destinations in this area on weekdays is 40 people.
"In anticipation of the potential surge in the number of tourists during Nataru (Christmas and New Year) for services at TPR, we have increased personnel from around 40 toll officers to three times to around 120 people," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 24.
All TPR tourism officers were alerted during the Christmas holiday season until after the New Year celebration, although they saw a surge in tourist visits, especially the southern coastal area.
Saryadi said that by optimizing the number of personnel for the collection service, he hoped that all tourist visitors could be served well, there was no potential for tourists not to pay the collection, even though there was a surge in visits.
"However, if our visit does not set a target for Nataru, we just flow, but hopefully at least the same as last year, Nataru last year the number of visitors was 200 thousand visitors from December 20 to January 5," he said.
His party did not set a target for tourist visits during the Christmas season, because the tourist destination in Bantul is very affected by the weather, while the end of the year 2025 holiday coincides with the rainy season which has the potential to be extreme.
"Hopefully there will be no extreme weather, that's all we hope for, because our tourism is mostly nature tourism, so it is very sensitive to the weather, if it doesn't rain, Insya Allah hopefully it will be quite a level of visits," he said.
He also said that the level of visits to Bantul tourist destinations, especially the southern coast of Bantul, had increased ahead of Christmas 2025, so that the hope was that the trend of visits would continue to increase until the end of the year.
"Currently, there has been an increase in tourist visits, and indeed we have not set a target, but if it can be as many as 200 thousand people during this Christmas, it is quite a lot in this atmosphere," he said.
