Cheap Electric Car Market Getting Tighter, Jetour Not Interested in Launching X20e in Indonesia

JAKARTA - The segment of cheap electric cars in Indonesia is increasingly crowded, and has received a fairly good response. After Wuling Air ev paved the way, the choices began to increase through the presence of Seres E1, VinFast VF 3, to BYD Atto 1.

At the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2025, Jetour also enlivened the segment by exhibiting the Jetour X20e. The concept is similar to Air ev, but offers a four-door configuration.

"We see affordable electric cars as a healthy trend. Consumers have more choices," said PT Jetour Motor Indonesia Marketing Director Moch. Ranggy Radiansyah, not long ago.

However, Jetour is still holding back on the certainty of launching the X20e in the country. After the exhibition, there was news that units could be ordered through sales staff.

However, management emphasized that the final decision was still in the study phase. Jetour instead released another surprise by releasing T2 as an offroad SUV with a gasoline engine and a price tag of Rp568 million on the road Jakarta, for the first 1,000 consumers.

"We are still studying. What is certain, we want to present a surprise that exceeds expectations both in terms of products and prices," said Ranggy.

The clues about the X20e can actually be seen, where the Motor Vehicle Sales Value (NJKB) of this model is recorded in Samsat PKB, with two variants of 300 km and 410 km range in the range of Rp165-175 million. For comparison, the NJKB of one of the Air ev variants is at Rp191 million, with an OTR Jakarta price of around Rp195 million.

This means that the opportunity for X20e to play at a competitive price is open with the note of its CKD status like Air ev. If it is still CBU, the price tag has the potential to exceed Rp. 200 million.

In terms of specifications, the X20e is available with two battery capacity options, namely with a battery capacity of 28.5 kWh for 305 km, or 39.3 kWh which can cover 405 km in one charge. There are also various features, such as Engine Start/Stop Button, Electric Parking Brake & Autohold, Electric Adjuster Rearview mirrors and Headlight Height Adjuster, as well as Electronic Shifters.

For safety, the Jetour X20e EV is equipped with driver and passenger airbags and a 360 Camera. Entering the cabin, it is equipped with an intuitive 10.25-inch head unit display with support for Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and is supported by six quality speakers (four full range and two tweeters).
