Celebrate Christmas 2025, MUI invites the public to maintain harmony
BATURAJA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU), South Sumatra, appeals to the public to maintain tolerance and brotherhood ahead of the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year celebrations as an effort to maintain security and peace in the area.
"We appeal to all people to always maintain brotherhood and togetherness, especially in commemorating religious holidays such as Christmas and New Year," said the Chairman of the MUI OKU Rokhmat Subeki, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 24.
He said it was important to respect each other and show high tolerance so that Christians could carry out Christmas worship safely and devoutly.
"Every religion is given the opportunity to carry out worship well and smoothly," he said.
Therefore, he asked all people in OKU Regency to continue to respect and tolerate the rituals of all other religious worship.
According to him, community readiness is very needed considering the flow of religious activities and the mobility of residents usually increases at the end of the year.
"By mutual care and avoiding provocations, the potential for social vulnerability can be suppressed as little as possible," he said.
People celebrating Christmas and New Year are also asked not to light firecrackers and blow trumpets at the New Year's Eve for the sake of mutual comfort.
"Avoid mass gatherings that can disrupt traffic flow and the surrounding community," he said.
