Real Madrid Loan Young Striker Endrick to Lyon

JAKARTA - Real Madrid has loaned young striker Endrick to Olympique Lyonnais until the end of the 2025/2026 season. The 19-year-old left Madrid because he found it difficult to get a place in the first team.

Endrick has indeed played 40 times in various competitions since joining Madrid in 2024. The Spanish LaLiga giant actually bought Endrick from Palmeiras in 2022 for a price of 47.5 million euros.

At that time he was still 16 and was only brought to Spain two years later. It was also the youth buying system that Madrid did when they brought Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo from their respective clubs in Brazil.

While still playing at Palmeiras, Endrick led the club to win the Brazilian League twice in a row, 2022 and 2023.

The following year at the age of 18, the player with the full name Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousaini only joined Madrid, which was then handled by Carlo Ancelotti.

However, he had trouble getting into the starting lineup and was more often played as a substitute. Moreover, Madrid also got Kylian Mbappe for free from Paris Saint-Germain, who then became the first choice.

Last season, Endrick played 22 times in LaLiga. But this season when Madrid was handled by Xabi Alonso, he hardly got a chance to play. Until the end of the first half of the competition, Endrick only played three times.

In order to get the opportunity to play in the main team, Madrid chose to let Endrick go to Lyon on loan until the end of the season. The club, which is currently ranked fifth in the French Ligue 1, is willing to pay a loan of 1 million euros.

"Olympique Lyonnais is pleased to welcome Endrick who will join the squad on December 29," said Lyon's official statement.

Endrick himself hopes to play regularly because the 2026 World Cup is only six months away. Endrick, who has played 14 times for Brazil and scored three goals, still has to compete for a place in the Brazilian squad.
