Temporary Housing for Aceh Residents Targeted to be Completed Before Ramadan
JAKARTA - The government through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said that temporary housing (huntara) for flood and landslide victims in Aceh is targeted to be completed in early February 2026 or before Ramadan.
While waiting for the huntara to be built, BNPB together with the Ministry of Social Affairs, TNI, and Polri, is now building an integrated evacuation at a number of points.
"The construction of the huntara continues. Integrated evacuation will be built in several areas, such as Aceh Tamiang, North Aceh, East Aceh, Bener Meriah, and Central Aceh which are equipped with health services, psychosocial, and public kitchens. The huntara is targeted to be completed before mid-February or before the beginning of Ramadan," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 23, reported by ANTARA.
BNPB stated that the construction of hunting and permanent housing in Aceh was carried out in five regencies/cities, namely North Aceh, Central Aceh, Bener Meriah, Pidie Jaya, Gayo Lues, and Pidie.
Abdul said that the disaster-affected areas were continuously cleaned by deploying personnel and equipment to the maximum. In fact, in some places, TNI and Polri personnel work up to 18-20 hours per day to accelerate recovery and revive community economic activities.
He ensured that residents affected by the disaster continued to receive support, in the form of food assistance and other needs. Until now, it is recorded that there are still 473,288 people displaced in Aceh.
"We continue to support food and other logistics needs, so that our brothers and sisters who are still in the evacuation points or who have returned home or are temporarily staying at relatives' houses, continue to receive support for food and clothing needs," he said.
Every day, continued Abdul, as much as 100 tons of logistical assistance are sent from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, East Jakarta. BNPB noted that as of December 22, 2025, the amount of assistance distributed to disaster-affected residents reached 1,266 tons.
"Around 100 tons are still a buffer stock. The enthusiasm and participation of the community is very high. We express our gratitude to all elements of the community for the donation support provided," said Abdul Muhari.
