JAKARTA - Abdul Chair Ramadhan officially served as chairman of the Judicial Commission (KY) for the first half of the 2025-2028 period, replacing Amzulian Rifai who held the position in the 2023-2025 period.
Abdul Chair at a press conference at the KY office, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 23, emphasized KY's commitment to play an active role in maintaining the honor, integrity, and dignity of judges and maintaining the integrity of the judiciary.
"All of this is certainly nothing but intended to support the realization of an independent judiciary as we aspire," he said, quoted by Antara.
He was elected as the chairman of the KY in the plenary meeting of the seven KY commissioners for the period 2025-2030, Friday (19/12/2025). In the plenary meeting, Desmihardi was also appointed as the deputy chairman of the KY for the period 2025-2028.
Furthermore, the new KY commissioners who took the oath of office held a follow-up plenary meeting on Monday to determine the head of the field from each field in the KY body.
The plenary meeting is intended to appoint Abhan as chairman of the Court Supervision and Investigation Unit, Andi Muhammad Asrun as chairman of the Court Recruitment Unit, and Setyawan Hartono as chairman of the Court Prevention and Capacity Improvement Unit.
Then, the chairman of the Human Resources, Advocacy, Law, Research, and Development was held by Williem Saija, while the chairman of the Inter-institutional Relations and Information Services and spokesperson was held by Anita Kadir.
In his remarks, Abdul Chair touched on substantive justice as one of the forms of legal certainty. According to him, justice does not merely talk about legal texts, but is also present to fulfill the values in society.
At that level, according to him, the function of supervision of judges is important. He said that efforts to uphold the dignity, dignity, and integrity of judges in presenting justice require a common awareness towards "the straight path".
Abdul Chair also emphasized that public confidence is so important and significant for KY. Therefore, his party will strengthen collaboration and synergy with other institutions in carrying out their duties.
The relevant institutions referred to by Abdul Chair include the Supreme Court, the Attorney General's Office, the Corruption Eradication Commission, the Ministry of Law, and the House of Representatives (DPR). He also revealed the plan for a KY hearing with President Prabowo Subianto.
"We will convey ideas, breakthroughs that we will certainly arrange systematically, holistically, integralistically, in order to build an independent, integrated, dignified judicial institution, to realize an independent judicial power," he said.
