Jakarta prohibits private fireworks parties on New Year's Eve 2026, Satpol PP will tour

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung asked private parties such as malls to hotels not to celebrate New Year's Eve 2026 in Jakarta with fireworks.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP, Satriadi Gunawan, revealed that during the momentum of the New Year's Eve celebration, the Satpol PP ranks will go around monitoring the points of the New Year's Eve celebration.

If there are still private parties who do not heed the ban, Satpol PP will immediately ask for the launch of fireworks to be stopped.

"Later we will monitor the Satpol PP in each region to monitor whether it is implemented or not, usually if there is an appeal not implemented, but if for example there is a warning to stop," said Satriadi at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, December 23.

During the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 celebrations, the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP deployed 4,296 personnel to carry out security. Security is spread across churches, New Year's Eve celebration points, tourist locations, to crowded points.

"And our concentration is not only on the day of H, but usually places of entertainment such as Ragunan, Ancol, Taman Mini, Monas, and so on are also objects that we need to secure. Security for churches also has 574 churches in Jakarta that we secure," said Satriadi.

Satriadi said that the Christmas and New Year moments were often followed by a surge in citizen mobility, religious activities, and crowds in public spaces. This condition requires the readiness of the police so that the situation in Jakarta remains safe and conducive.

"If it's Christmas and New Year's holidays, the next day, usually entertainment and tourist attractions, there are many (visitors). Well, that's where we also place personnel," he said.

Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung banned fireworks on New Year's Eve 2026 in Jakarta for private parties that require permits, such as hotels, shopping centers, and entertainment areas.

This was stated by Pramono after holding a meeting with the DKI Provincial Government regarding the preparation of the 2026 New Year's Eve celebration in Jakarta which has changed from the preparation of the initial concept.

"The concentration for the new year, which we originally planned to have fireworks and so on, in the meeting I had decided for the entire Jakarta region, which was held by the government and private parties, we asked for no fireworks," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, December 22.
