Mount Rinjani TN Office Receives Thermal Drone Assistance for Emergency Evacuation

JAKARTA - The Mount Rinjani National Park Office (TNGR) received a set of thermal drones and rescue equipment to strengthen emergency evacuation efforts.

The assistance was from the Directorate of Environmental Service Utilization, Directorate General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation (KSDAE)

"This assistance is also to increase surveillance of the area and monitoring of climbing activities on Mount Rinjani," said Head of the Administrative Affairs Sub-section of the NTB TNGR Office, Astekita Ardiaristo in Mataram, NTB, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

He said the drone has thermal technology that can detect the body temperature of humans and animals. This device is considered very helpful in finding climbers who are lost or have accidents on the climbing route.

"This thermal drone is equipped with a positioning system with centimeter accuracy, so it is very helpful for evacuation and monitoring the area," he said.

According to him, the drone is also equipped with real time kinematic (RTK) which allows precise mapping and position determination.

In addition to evacuation, this device can be used for land cover surveillance and monitoring climbing activities in the Mount Rinjani National Park area.

Another advantage of this drone is flexible power supply support. The TNGR office receives a wind-powered power bank, so drone operations can still be carried out even in remote areas.

"If it is brought to the area, there is no need to worry about running out of power," he said.

He said that the use of thermal drones would make emergency handling more optimal because it was specifically designed for evacuation needs.

"The range of drone operation reaches more than two kilometers, depending on the terrain and the location of the incident," he said.

In addition to drones, the TNGR Office also received complete SAR equipment assistance, ranging from stretchers, ropes, to rappelling equipment. The equipment is placed at a number of strategic points, such as the Balun Climbing Post, Pelawangan, and several shelters on the Rinjani climbing route.

"By placing the equipment at several points, when an emergency occurs, the team just deploys personnel without having to bring equipment from below," he said.

The plan is that the thermal drone will be placed at the TNGR Center resort, when it is not used for emergency handling, the tool will be used for personnel training so that readiness is maintained.

"If the incident on the drone can be brought up immediately because it is equipped with a carrying bag, so the mobilization is easier," he said.
