Sold Out, Xpeng X9 Gets Updates from Features to Battery, Longer Travel Distance
JAKARTA - After winning the title of the best-selling electric MPV (BEV) and EREV in November, Xpeng is preparing to refresh the X9 BEV version. This latest variant is promised to be launched in the near future with significant improvements, especially in mileage which now reaches 710 km and 750 km.
As a comparison, if you look at the two variants of FWD BEV offered in Indonesia today, the mileage is 610 km (standard range) and 702 km (long range).
In the Chinese market, the X9 is currently marketed in four BEV trims and two EREV trims. The price range is 359,800-459,800 yuan (Rp856.88 million to Rp1.09 billion) for BEV and 309,800-329,800 yuan (Rp737 million to Rp785 million) for EREV, as reported by Carnewschina, Tuesday, December 23.
The refresh of the X9 BEV presents two driving options, namely FWD still relies on an electric motor of 235 kW (315 hp) with a torque of 450 Nm. Meanwhile, AWD adds a rear motor of 135 kW (181 hp), producing a total power of 370 kW (496 hp).
Both use a 110 kWh ternary lithium battery from CALB-Tech, which is the key to the increase in mileage. The empty weight is recorded at 2,740 kg (FWD) and 2,685 kg (AWD).
Xpeng markets the X9 as an "AI" labeled vehicle, this latest version is equipped with three internal mixed AI Turing chips with a combined computing power of 2,250 TOPS. Two chips support the AI VLA model for advanced driving assistance features, while another chip runs AI VLM for a more intuitive intelligent cockpit experience.
In terms of design, the latest X9 BEV still maintains the previous design language. The touch of the update appears on the front and rear bumpers to be in harmony with the EREV variant.
The length dimension increased by 23 mm to 5,316 mm, while the width was 1,988 mm, height 1,785 mm, and wheelbase 3,160 mm were maintained.
On the other hand, the sales performance throughout November, Xpeng delivered 3,234 units of X9, jumping 161 percent compared to the previous month. The EREV variant became a growth motor, with more than 2,000 units delivered just 10 days after its debut on November 20.
Not only in the country, X9 also recorded regional achievements. On December 17, Xpeng announced that X9 topped sales of high-end BEV and EREV MPVs in China, and became the best-selling BEV MPV in Thailand for three consecutive months.
