Hydrogen-Powered Electric Car Honda CRV e: FCEV Pulled Due to Cooling System Problems
JAKARTA - Honda USA has officially recalled 388 units of the 2025 Honda CR-V e: FCEV model. This step was reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in mid-December 2025, after a potential problem was found in the fuel cell cooling system.
Looking at Honda's official website, Tuesday, December 23, the fuel cell coolant may leak into the internal area of the fuel cell stack container which should be free of liquid. If this condition occurs, the leak can cause internal electrical short circuits.
The result triggers a decrease in engine power, to stop the process of generating power completely. In certain scenarios, this condition can increase the risk of accidents when the vehicle is being used.
Honda confirmed that a number of warnings may appear first before the vehicle experiences a total failure in the fuel cell system. Some indicators that can appear on the dashboard include warnings.
Starting from the "Power System" which indicates high voltage interference, notification of low coolant level, power reduction warning up to about 20 kW, to extreme messages such as "Do not drive".
If the driver finds these signs, Honda asks vehicle owners to immediately contact an authorized dealer for further inspection and handling. Dealers will replace the fuel line assembly with better parts.
