"We will follow the rules," said Sarinah Thamrin: "We will follow the rules"
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung issued a Circular Letter (SE) prohibiting fireworks parties on New Year's Eve 2026. This policy applies to all activities that require both government and private permits.
In response to the SE, PT Sarinah ensured that it would comply with the provisions of the New Year's Eve celebration issued by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov).
Sarinah President Director Raisha Syarfuan said Sarinah did not celebrate the New Year's Eve to 2026 with pomp. Including by not holding a fireworks party.
"This step was taken by Sarinah, continued Raisha, as a form of concern for the people of Aceh, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar) who are facing the disaster of natural disasters.
"We have a much wiser event, a much more inclusive event. So from our celebration later we are sure we will follow the rules, because there are also holding not to celebrate it excessively," said Raisha in a press conference in Jakarta, Monday, December 22.
"This time, Sarinah carries the theme 'Gifts Full of Taste from Full Love Works', Sarinah presents Ulos as the main visual element of Christmas 2025," said Raisha.
"In the tradition of the people of North Sumatra, Ulos represents prayers, blessings, and good wishes, in line with the Christmas spirit that emphasizes the values of love and togetherness," he said.
"If you can see behind us, there is a Christmas tree using ulos. So our vocal point at Sarinah this year celebrating Christmas and New Year is a gift full of love from a full of love work," said Raisha.
"Raisha said that on December 31, 2025, the Sarinah Thamrin mall will open from 10.00 WIB, with stores operating until 22.00 WIB, while the mall area will remain open until midnight.
"On New Year's Eve, the Sarinah Thamrin shopping center will operate from 10.00 to 00.00 WIB," said Raisha.
"This holiday period is a strategic momentum for Sarinah. The company also targets 300,000 visitors throughout December 24, 2025 to January 1, 2026," said Raisha.
"Or an increase of around 10 percent compared to the previous year," he said.
"As for the peak of the year-end program series at Sarinah, it is Festiloka Panggung Nusantara 2026, which is held in conjunction with Car Free Night. This event will present Indonesian music and art performances, as well as a space for celebrating together with the community to welcome the new year.
"Festiloka Panggung Nusantara 2026 will be held on 12-13 December 2026 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Hall 1, Hall 2, and Hall 3. The event will be held in two stages, namely Festiloka Panggung Nusantara 2026 Stage 1 on 12 December 2026 and Festiloka Panggung Nusantara 2026 Stage 2 on 13 December 2026. The main event is Tiara Andini and Moluccan Soul. In addition, Sarinah will also present the Jaranan Dance from Kediri and the Burung Enggang Dance from Kalimantan as part of Sarinah's efforts to present a variety of Nusantara cultural expressions to the public.
"As a manifestation of social concern, Festiloka Panggung Nusantara 2026 will be started with a joint prayer and fundraising for victims of natural disasters in Sumatra, in cooperation with Disparekraf Jakarta and BAZNAS BAZIS Jakarta.
"One of the event's presenters, Manager Moluccan Soul Neo Robby Subarjo, expressed his enthusiasm for being involved in the end-of-year celebration at Sarinah. He said that music for us is a meeting space for culture and togetherness.
"Performing at Sarinah, praying together and donating for our brothers in Sumatra, gives a deeper meaning to welcoming the new year," said Robby.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government would prohibit fireworks parties on New Year's Eve 2026 in Jakarta. This ban is specifically aimed at private parties that require permits, such as hotels, shopping centers, and entertainment areas.
"This was revealed by Pramono after holding a meeting with the DKI Provincial Government regarding the preparation of the 2026 New Year's Eve celebration in Jakarta, which has changed from the preparation of the initial concept," said Pramono after holding a meeting with the DKI Provincial Government regarding the preparation of the 2026 New Year's Eve celebration in Jakarta which has changed from the preparation of the initial concept.
"The concentration for the new year, which we originally planned, there was fireworks and so on, in the meeting I had decided for the entire Jakarta region, which was held by the government and private parties, we asked for no fireworks," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, December 22.
"This ban will be set through a circular from the Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Regional Government. Pramono emphasized that the prohibition of fireworks during the New Year's Eve celebration was necessary as a form of Jakarta's empathy for areas that are currently facing hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and landslides.
"We hope that private parties will refrain from celebrating New Year's Eve with excessive festivity and euphoria," said Pramono, hoping that private parties will refrain from celebrating New Year's Eve with excessive festivity and euphoria. Although, no sanctions will be imposed on those who later break this circular.
"Of course, if the Regional Secretary has come out, people will obey it. But I'm sorry, this time I didn't hold a raid for that. Because we are welcoming the new year, don't make people unhappy," said Pramono.
