Seskab Checks Post-Christmas and New Year Transportation Monitoring Post

JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya visited the Central Post for Monitoring Christmas and New Year Transportation/Transport at the Ministry of Transportation office, Jakarta, to check the government's readiness and state-owned enterprises in the transportation sector ahead of the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holidays.

At the Central Monitoring Post, the Secretary of the Cabinet, Teddy, together with the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi, and a number of senior officials of the Ministry of Transportation, and the board of directors of state-owned enterprises in the transportation sector discussed various issues, especially related to people's travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays, which are expected to be carried out by more than 60 million people.

"Without reducing our attention to our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster in Sumatra, more than 60 million people will travel at the end of this year. The government must also ensure that their travel during Christmas and New Year can run smoothly, comfortably and safely," said the Secretary of the Cabinet Teddy as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 22.

The Secretary of State, Teddy, reminded all directors and senior executives of state-owned enterprises in the transportation sector to go directly to the field to check the services they provide to the public during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

"All dirut (chief director, ed.) and the transportation BUMN apparatus must go down directly to check the service and comfort of the facilities. Don't think this is a normal annual activity, there must be improvements from before," said the Secretary of the Cabinet Teddy during a meeting at the Post.

Teddy said that all levels of ministries/institutions, state-owned enterprises in the transportation sector, and the police would focus on monitoring vulnerable points to ensure that travel during the Christmas and New Year 2026 holidays is safe, smooth, and without any accidents (zero accidents).

The Central Post for Monitoring Christmas and New Year Transportation was officially opened by Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta, last week (18/12). The Minister of Transportation explained that the post was built as a cross-sector coordination center to ensure that all policies, operational steps, and field responses run integrated and timely.

In the implementation of Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 transportation, the Minister of Transportation said there were four main focuses that must be a common concern. First, security and safety must be placed as the highest priority.

"All levels are required to take steps to anticipate and mitigate risks consistently to prevent accidents and fatalities (deaths, ed.)," said Transportation Minister Dudy.

Second, Dudy continued, the synergy and collaboration between ministries, institutions, local governments, SOEs, and all stakeholders must continue to be strengthened, so that every policy and action in the field runs in harmony and supports each other.

Third, attention to detail is the key to the success of the Christmas and New Year transportation. Every operational aspect, no matter how small, must not be ignored and must be carefully monitored.

"Fourth, we must always anticipate uncertainty and unexpected conditions, especially related to extreme weather and the potential for natural disasters, by preparing scenarios and quick and appropriate response steps," said Dudy Purwagandhi.
