Proliga 2026 Followed by 12 Clubs, Fasting Month Still Play
JAKARTA - The 2026 Proliga volleyball competition is attended by 12 teams, consisting of five men's teams and seven women's teams. The highest level competition in Indonesia will still be held during next year's fasting month.
The Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PP PBVSI), Imam Sudjarwo, said that this competition was held again to maintain the competition of athletes and the achievements of the Indonesian National Volleyball Team.
"The number of matches is more than the previous year. In addition, there is an addition of cities, namely Medan," said Imam in a press conference in Jakarta.
From the men's category, the teams that will compete are Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, Jakarta Garuda Jaya, Jakarta LavAni, Medan Falcons Tirta Bhagasasi, and Surabaya Samator.
As for the women's sector, the participating teams consist of the defending champion Jakarta Pertamina Enduro, Bandung BJB Tandamata, Gresik Phonska Plus Pupuk Indonesia, Jakarta Electric PLN Mobile, Jakarta Livin Mandiri, Jakarta Popsivo Polwan, and Medan Falcons.
The presence of these clubs shows a combination of traditional strength and the emergence of new talents who are ready to bring fresh colors, surprises, and increasingly improved game quality.
"The fasting month will still be played, but not full (full), the match venue during the fasting at the Sentul Training Center. So, for eight days the competition will take place there," said Imam.
The 2026 Proliga competition will hold as many as 98 matches. In addition, the final round and third place matches will use the best-of-three system, different from previous years.
MOJI Director, David Suwarto, said that the Proliga broadcast was still one of the sports programs with high audience enthusiasm so that in the upcoming season they would hold the broadcasting rights again.
"We ensure that every match, from the knockout phase, the Final Four to the Grand Final, can be enjoyed by all volleyball fans in the country," he said.
The Proliga match will be opened on January 8, 2026 at the Ahmad Yani Integrated Sports Arena (GOR), Pontianak. The Grand Final round will be held on April 21-26, 2026 at the Amongrogo GOR, Yogyakarta.
