Roy Suryo Claims to Find Jokowi's Diploma Discrepancies during Special Case
JAKARTA - The suspect in the case of alleged fake diplomas of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, Roy Suryo, assessed that there were a number of irregularities in Jokowi's diploma shown by the Polda Metro Jaya investigators in a special case title.
This was conveyed by Roy Suryo, former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), when he visited the South Jakarta Metro Police, South Jakarta, on Monday, December 22, 2025, to meet with investigators from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Metro Jaya Police, after the special case title was carried out.
Roy explained that the research with Dr. Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar and Dr. Tifauzia Tyassuma on Jokowi's degree had been carried out long before the special case title was held. In fact, the results of the research have been presented directly and accepted by the investigator of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Iman Imanuddin.
"In the presentation, we explained in detail the basis of the analysis which concluded that the diploma in question had strong indications as a fake document with a confidence level of 99.9 percent," he told the media, at the Polda Metro Jaya.
Roy added that the analysis also included allegations of lies by Andi Azwan referring to Dian Sandi's upload on the X account, as well as a study of the statement from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) which said that its logo was damaged by Andi Azwan.
"All of these exposures were received directly by the investigators without any rebuttal," he said.
Roy also highlighted the physical condition of Jokowi's diploma which was kept in a hardcover map. According to him, the map was originally handed over to the National Police Headquarters in a plastic-covered condition and had never been issued.
However, when the diploma was shown again in the special case title, Roy claimed that there was a difference in the form of stains or dirt that had not been clearly visible.
"This condition raises serious questions, whether the documents shown are really the same documents, or there has been replacement or modification," he said.
He also touched on the presence of watermarks and emboss on the diploma. Roy said, at the beginning of the submission, the two elements were not the focus of the examination. However, when it was shown again, the watermark and emboss were considered very thin and only had a visual graphic.
"This raises the strong suspicion that the watermark and emboss were added later through the printing process, not a part of the original document," said Roy.
In addition, Roy questioned the claim that the emboss can be felt from the outside of the plastic wrapping of the diploma.
"Physically it doesn't make sense. It's impossible for the hand to penetrate the plastic to feel the emboss," he said.
On this basis, Roy Suryo and his team asked for an independent forensic laboratory test of Jokowi's diploma by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Forensic Laboratory of the University of Indonesia (UI).
"Therefore, I reiterate that the certificate shown in the special case title yesterday has very strong indications as a false document," he said.
