Roy Suryo Cs Usul, Forensic Examination of Jokowi's Degree Conducted by Independent Party

JAKARTA - The case of the alleged fake diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), is still rolling. Roy Suryo Cs's lawyer, Ahmad Khozinudin, asked the Metro Jaya Police investigators to conduct an independent forensic laboratory test on Jokowi's diploma which had been seized as evidence.

Khozinudin emphasized that independent forensic tests were needed so that the authenticity of the document could be proven credibly, transparently, and accountable to the public. According to him, the examination should not only depend on the internal assessment of law enforcement officials.

In the special trial that had been carried out previously, investigators showed the evidence of the diploma directly to the suspects and their lawyers. Investigators also ensured that the document was in the possession of the Metro Jaya Police.

However, Khozinudin clarified the assumption that has developed in the community that by showing the evidence, the case is considered complete.

"We want to correct public perceptions. By showing the evidence, this case does not mean it is over. Valid proof can only be made through a trial, and the truth of the law is determined by the decision of the judge who has the force of law," he told the media at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, December 22, 2025.

Khozinudin revealed that although his party was only allowed to see the diploma in plain sight without touching or examining it in depth, this actually strengthened their belief that there were problems with the document.

He highlighted the photo on the diploma which according to their belief was not a photo of President Joko Widodo. This, he said, had also been conveyed by Rustam Effendi directly to the investigators.

"The photo listed is a photo of a man with glasses and a thin mustache, which according to our belief and many parties is not a photo of Joko Widodo," he said.

The request for independent forensic testing, continued Khozinudin, is based on various legal precedents. He cited the case of the murder of Brigadier General Nofriansyah Yoshua Hutabarat, which was only fully revealed after a re-forensic examination by independent parties.

"This case proves that internal forensic results alone are not always sufficient to reveal the material truth. Therefore, independent forensic testing is important to eliminate public doubts and prevent alleged interventions," he said.

Roy Suryo Cs's party proposed that independent forensic tests be carried out by domestic institutions that have credibility and competence, such as the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) or the Forensic Laboratory of the University of Indonesia (UI).

"This is entirely the policy of the investigators and is a legitimate step for justice, transparency, and maintaining public confidence in law enforcement," he concluded.
