SEMARANG - The Central Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) has borne the entire process of repatriating the victims of the single accident of the PO Cahaya Trans bus, which occurred at the Krapyak Toll exit junction, Semarang City.

Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi ensured that the Central Java Provincial Government would bear the entire process of returning the deceased victims, from identification, transportation, to escorting ambulances to each funeral home.

"I have coordinated with the relevant service to ensure that out of 34 passengers, with 16 dead, the Provincial Government bears all of them, including transportation, identification, and escort to the funeral home," he said as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 22.

He also ensured that the handling of injured victims was optimal by involving the Central Java Health Service (Dinkes).

"A total of 18 people were treated. Our Health Office intervened directly to help the activity," he said when visiting the mortuary of the Kariadi Dr. Kariadi Semarang Hospital.

Governor Luthfi also expressed his condolences to the victims' families for the disaster.

"We from the Central Java Provincial Government express our deepest condolences. May the families left behind be strengthened and the victims get husnul khatimah," he said.

Previously, an accident involving a PO Cahaya Trans bus with the police number B 7201 IV carrying 34 passengers departing from Jatiasih, Jakarta, to Yogyakarta.

The bus was allegedly speeding before losing control, hitting the road divider, and rolling over at 00.30 WIB.

Based on the latest information, the number of fatalities increased from 15 to 16 people.

Meanwhile, the other 18 passengers are still undergoing treatment at a number of hospitals in Semarang City, including the Kariadi Hospital, Columbia Asia Hospital, and the Adhyatma MPH Hospital or Tugu Semarang Hospital.
