Nataru Holiday, Yogyakarta is the Favorite Destination of the Community
JAKARTA - The city of Yogyakarta is one of the favorite destinations for people during the Christmas Transportation 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru).
The high level of tourist activities, family visits, and economic movements have led to a surge in passenger mobility to and from the region.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI recorded the high movement reflected in the average daily customer volume during the Nataru period in the Yogyakarta region.
KAI Corporate Communication Vice President Anne Purba said that long-distance trains serve an average of 10,664 customers per day, airport trains around 9,846 customers per day, the Yogyakarta Commuter Line recorded an average of 27,939 customers per day, and the Prameks train serves around 3,101 customers per day.
"These data show that Yogyakarta Station plays a strategic role as a mobility node, both for long-distance, regional, and urban travel during the Nataru period," Anne said in an official statement, Monday, December 22.
Anne said, the integrated intermodal connectivity between long-distance trains, the Yogyakarta Commuter Line, Prameks services, and the airport train to Yogyakarta International Airport makes Yogyakarta Station able to serve an average of 51,550 KAI Group passengers per day during the year-end holiday period.
In terms of operations, during the 2025/2026 Nataru Transportation, Yogyakarta Station serves an average of 50 airport train trips, 31 commuter line trips, 13 long-distance train trips, and 10 Prameks train trips.
"The intensity of this service reflects the high mobility needs of the community in the Yogyakarta area and its surroundings," he said.
To ensure the smooth, safe, and orderly travel, KAI strengthened the Nataru Security Post which operates 24 hours.
This post serves as a coordination center for security, passenger flow management, and service control, especially at stations with high density levels.
Anne said, KAI also appealed to all customers to comply with the instructions of officers, maintain safety while on the platform, prioritize passengers who get off the train, and arrive at the station early, at least 30 minutes before the departure schedule.
In addition, Anne said, the public is expected to plan their trip early and use the Access by KAI application for easy ticket purchase and travel information.
"Through the strengthening of the Security and Discipline Post together, KAI is committed to ensuring that public mobility during Nataru, especially in Yogyakarta as a favorite destination city, can take place safely, orderly, and smoothly," concluded Anne.
