YouTube Tests Combining 'Dislike' and 'Not Interested' Buttons in Shorts

JAKARTA - YouTube is testing a new function of the 'Dislike' button in Shorts. In this limited test, YouTube will combine the functions of the Dislike and Dislike buttons.

This step was taken after YouTube found that its users often use both options interchangeably. The company wants to simplify the way of watching in adjusting the content that appears on their home page.

Instead of appearing in the video's main interface, this button is now hidden behind the three-dot icon. This button that is being tested will also have a different name, depending on the group that gets the menu.

Some users may see the Dislike menu, while others will see the menu as Dislike. This different name suggests that the functions of the two menus will be similar.

For viewers who are included in the testing group, pressing the thumb down button will trigger an optional survey. This survey aims to provide additional feedback on the specific reasons users do not like the content.

Currently, the trial is still very limited and only targets certain user groups. There is no certainty whether this change will be permanently implemented for users around the world.

YouTube has also not confirmed the exact duration of the testing period for this feature. Users are asked to provide feedback through the official forum to help develop a better YouTube interface in the future.
