All DKI Provincial Government New Year's Eve Celebrations are accompanied by a Joint Prayer for Disaster Victims

JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta ensures that the New Year's Eve celebration 2026 at all locations held by the DKI Provincial Government will be accompanied by prayers across religions. This activity is a symbol of empathy for the disaster that occurred in Sumatra and other areas.

It is planned that there will be eight celebration points for the New Year's Eve in Jakarta, namely HI Roundabout, Taman Lapangan Banteng, the Old City area, and the offices of the mayors of North Jakarta, Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, East Jakarta, and South Jakarta. HI Roundabout is the main point for the New Year's Eve celebration.

This was stated by Pramono after holding a meeting to prepare for the 2026 New Year's Eve celebration in Jakarta which experienced changes from the preparation of the initial concept.

"So there is a prayer together for all religions by ustaz or habaib. What is clear, all religions will be there, because what happened to us all concerns all religions," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, December 22.

Pramono emphasized that the joint prayer would be the main part of the new year, replacing the concept of excessive parties and euphoria in the midst of the grief still enveloping the victims of the disaster in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and several other areas.

"What is clear is that all religions will be there, because what happens to us all concerns us all," said Pramono.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government will also reopen donations during the 2026 New Year's Eve celebration, which is intended not only for victims of the Sumatra disaster, but also for residents affected by flash flood disasters in several Central Java areas, as well as disasters in West Java.

"Now this disaster is not only in Sumatra, although the main one is still in Sumatra, namely West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh. We will also hold a donation for Indonesia, because what happened in Central Java, West Java, and several other areas certainly also need attention," said Pramono.

In addition, the New Year's celebration was filled with musical performances from a number of musicians. One of them is d'Masiv. Pramono asked this band from Jakarta to bring a special song to be presented to the victims of the disaster during the countdown or count down to the New Year 2026.

"We have advised that the most important thing is that at the HI roundabout we ask for D'Masiv. The title of the song is 'Don't Give Up'. Because to sing a song like this is not easy, that's why we chose it for the new year," said Pramono.

Meanwhile, the DKI Provincial Government will still display video mapping at the Monas monument, but will not hold entertainment activities and gatherings of residents.
