Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Reveals that the Government Focuses on Mitigating the Potential for Extreme Weather During Christmas and New Year's

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Pratikno, emphasized that efforts to mitigate the impact of extreme weather are the main focus of the government in securing the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holidays.

"Everything is prepared thoroughly, including anticipating the weather. As we know, we are facing unusually wet weather," said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Pratikno, after reviewing the readiness of services at the Merak Port, Cilegon, Banten, Monday, quoted by Antara.

Pratikno explained a number of natural challenges currently faced, ranging from cyclone phenomena in three provinces, post-disaster recovery in several areas, to forecasts of bad weather in the southern coastal area.

Therefore, the government has consolidated cross-sectoral forces to ensure that anticipation measures run optimally if weather conditions worsen.

"We have witnessed that the readiness of all ministries and agencies is very high. Both from the TNI, Polri, Basarnas, and all levels of ministries," he said.

He ensured that all personnel and supporting infrastructure had been alerted to minimize risks, so that the public could still travel home and back safely and comfortably.

"We still anticipate everything we don't want. We are ready," he said.

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries also appreciated the hard work of all parties who had prepared the scenario for handling the end-of-year holidays in the midst of the challenges of uncertain natural conditions.
