Banten is a concern for the National Police Chief ahead of Christmas and New Year holidays, with the flow of homecoming to worship being strictly guarded.
CILEGON - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo gave special attention to the security of four vital objects in the Banten region during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"There are four objects considered vital in the Banten region, namely the movement of people going home or returning, crossing routes in Merak, religious activities, and year-end tourist destinations," said Listyo Sigit when reviewing the Merak Port, Cilegon, Antara, Monday, December 22.
The National Police Chief explained that Banten Province has a strategic position as a gateway for people's movement from Java Island to Sumatra and vice versa. Therefore, all community activities, whether for worship, work, or tourism, must have security and smoothness.
In the operation to secure the end-of-year holidays, the National Police has prepared around 2,800 security posts and service posts spread across various regions. These posts are on alert to anticipate traffic congestion while providing health services and resting places for the public.
In addition to focusing on vital objects, the National Police Chief also reminded his staff to increase vigilance against the potential for extreme weather that could disrupt the smooth running of community activities during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"We must not be careless. If there is an impact from high rainfall and high waves, this must be the main concern," he said.
The National Police Chief asked all personnel in the field to continue to monitor the development of weather information from the BMKG and to prepare disaster mitigation measures, including the readiness of evacuation equipment if needed at any time.
He added, the President of the Republic of Indonesia pays full attention to security and public services during the year-end holiday period.
"The President gave full attention to us to maintain ease and service for the community, so that the celebration of Christmas and New Year can run well in the midst of the current weather situation predictions," said the National Police Chief.
