KKP Allocates Rp859 Billion to Build 35 Red and White Fishing Villages

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) will immediately build the second phase of the Red and White Fishermen Village (KNMP). Later, the second phase of KNMP will be built in 35 coastal locations in Indonesia.

Chairman of the KNMP Trian Yunanda Development Implementation Coordination Team said that the second phase of construction complements the 65 villages that were built first. Thus, the total construction in the 2025 fiscal year reached 100 locations.

"We have contracted yesterday and construction can be carried out immediately in 35 additional locations. So, in total there will be 100 locations using state funds in 2025," said Trian as quoted from a written statement, Monday, December 22.

Trian said that the construction of KNMP phase two uses state funds of Rp. 859 billion with a multi-year contract or Multi Year Contract (MYC) scheme. The second phase of construction is targeted to be completed in May 2026.

Like the first phase of construction, Trian emphasized that the contractor must maintain the quality of construction, aesthetics, and the timeliness of construction implementation.

In addition, the involvement of local people as workers is also a concern, so that the economic impact during the development of KNMP is felt directly by the community.

"We are also preparing the construction of KNMP based on a cluster system for the 2026 fiscal year. The point is that we run KNMP as best as possible at many points in an integrated manner in one fisheries business model for the welfare of coastal communities, the competitiveness of fishery products, and growing the economy from the bottom up," he said.

KNMP cluster system in 2026, currently in the stage of surveying candidate locations by involving hundreds of surveyors who directly go to the candidate locations for construction. The data from the survey is important for accelerating the right target development, as well as a database for determining the KNMP candidate locations later.

Meanwhile, regarding the construction of KNMP phase one with 65 locations, the average progress has reached 60-80 percent.

"Hopefully in January the construction will be completed, so that the fisheries facilities that we have prepared can be immediately utilized by the community," he added.
