PKS Ogah Discuss Golkar's Proposal on Permanent Coalition: Urging Disaster Management in Sumatra
JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) is reluctant to comment much on the discussion of the permanent coalition proposed by the Golkar Party. PKS emphasized that at this time the most urgent thing is handling the aftermath of the flood and landslide disasters in Sumatra.
According to the Secretary General of the PKS, Muhammad Kholid, the discussion of the 2029 presidential coalition is still too far away. Preferably, said Kholid, all parties focus on succeeding the Prabowo-Gibran government program.
"Regarding the coalition in the 2029 presidential election, it is still too far to discuss. Now it is better for us to focus on helping and supporting so that the government of President Prabowo succeeds in running the government until 2029," Kholid told reporters, Monday, December 22.
Kholid also emphasized that at this time the most important thing is to help the government in handling the victims of the Sumatra disaster. Including rebuilding damaged homes, especially for severely affected areas.
"The crucial and urgent (is) handling the Sumatra disaster. The process of rehabilitation, reconstruction and reviving the economy of Sumatra is a big issue that must be prioritized," said the DPR member from the West Java VI constituency.
Previously, the 2025 I Rapimnas of the Golkar Party produced a number of recommendations, one of which was to encourage a permanent coalition as a form of binding political cooperation in parliament and government.
Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia explained that the purpose of the permanent coalition is to ensure that every strategic government policy obtains stable political support, accelerate the decision-making process, and maintain the continuity of national development in the long term.
"Political stability is the main prerequisite for sustainable development," Bahlil said in a press release in Jakarta, Sunday, December 21.
Bahlil said that a permanent coalition is a transformation of the pattern of political cooperation from merely an electoral coalition that is tactical to the formation of an ideological and strategic coalition, based on common platforms and policy agendas.
"This Permanent Coalition is not only built to win the Presidential Election contest," he said.
