Netflix Acquires Ready Player Me, Strengthens Avatar Gaming and Technology Sector

JAKARTA - Netflix officially acquired Ready Player Me, an Estonian cross-game avatar technology company, which is intended to strengthen its gaming business strategy.

CEO of Ready Player Me, Timmu Tõke, stated that the entire Ready Player Me team would join Netflix and contribute directly to the development of the company's gaming strategy.

"Our team will join Netflix to contribute to their gaming strategy with our cross-game avatar technology, which allows players to bring their identity and love for different games across platforms," Tõke wrote on his LinkedIn page.

Ready Player Me was founded about 12 years ago by Timmu Tõke along with his two colleagues Rainer, Kaspar, and Haver.

Starting with an interest in digital avatars, the company has developed a range of products, from hardware scanners to personal avatar technology, before launching the Ready Player Me platform more than five years ago.

Throughout its journey, Ready Player Me is known as one of the pioneers of cross-game avatar interoperability technology and has served thousands of game developers in various parts of the world.

Tõke said the vision of Ready Player Me from the beginning was to allow avatars and digital identities to be used across games and virtual worlds. The merger of Ready Player Me with Netflix is believed to accelerate the realization of this vision on a global scale.

"I am very excited that the Ready Player Me team can join Netflix to develop our technology to a global audience and support Netflix's ambitious vision in the gaming sector," Tõke concluded.
