Google Delays Google Assistant Migration to Gemini on Mobile Devices until 2026
Google has officially announced that it will postpone the migration of Google Assistant to Gemini on most mobile devices until 2026.
In March, Google said it wanted to remove Assistant from most Android phones by the end of 2025 and replace it with Gemini.
"We are adjusting the schedule we announced earlier to ensure a smooth transition, and will continue our efforts to increase Assistant users to Gemini on mobile devices by 2026," a Google representative wrote in an announcement on its official website.
Google stated that this schedule adjustment was made so that the user experience remained optimal during the migration process. The company also promised to share further details regarding the plan in the next few months.
"We'll share more details about our plans in the coming months. Your input is important to us," the announcement concluded.
Gemini is Google's generative AI model that is gradually replacing the role of Google Assistant, with more advanced capabilities in understanding context, natural language, and cross-application integration in the Google ecosystem.
With features such as Gemini Live for free-flowing multimodal conversations and Deep Research, Gemini's presence is expected to make Google a user's personal research assistant.
