Gibran Visits North Sumatra and North Sulawesi, Reviews Infrastructure to Christmas Celebrations
JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka made a working visit to North Sumatra (North Sumatra) and North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi) on December 21-23, 2025.
This visit was carried out to ensure the acceleration of infrastructure development, the equalization of basic services, the handling of disaster-affected areas, and the presence of the state in supporting the smooth celebration of Christmas, in line with President Prabowo Subianto's instructions.
quoted by Antara, Sunday afternoon, Vice President Gibran and his entourage departed from Jakarta on Sunday morning at around 06.30 WIB using the Presidential Aircraft BAE-RJ85 to North Sumatra Province.
After a flight time of 2 hours 35 minutes, the Vice President arrived at Binaka Airport at around 09.00 WIB.
Opening his working visit, the Vice President visited SMKN 1 Boronadu, in Sifalago Gomo Village, South Nias Regency, to review the bridge construction plan as an effort to improve community connectivity and access.
After that, Gibran reviewed the installation of a new electricity connection for residents of Hilisebua Village, Nias Regency, as a form of equitable access to energy.
In the islands known for the stone-jumping tradition, Gibran also reviewed the PLN Gunungsitoli Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG) to ensure the reliability of the electricity supply.
In addition, the Vice President visited the BNKP Petrus Ombulata Church in Gunungsitoli City to review the readiness of the Christmas celebration and ensure that the people can worship safely and comfortably.
On the second day, Monday (22/12), the Vice President is scheduled to continue his working visit to North Tapanuli Regency.
He will review the location of the landslide disaster in Sibalanga Village, Adian Koting District, and ensure that the handling of refugees and the post-disaster recovery process runs well and is coordinated.
On the same day, the Vice President will visit the GKPI Pearaja Tarutung Church to review the implementation of Christmas celebrations and greet the congregation.
After the series of agendas in North Sumatra, Gibran will depart for Bitung City, North Sulawesi to attend Christmas celebrations with children and local people in Gor Manembo-nembo.
The series of working visits continued on Tuesday, December 23 in North Sulawesi. Gibran will review the Bersehati Market, Manado City, to ensure the stability of the supply and price of basic necessities before the end of the year.
After that, the Vice President will attend a Christmas celebration with children at the Sam Ratulangi Central GPdI, Manado, as a form of the government's attention to the social and religious life of the community.
After completing all agendas, on the same day the Vice President is scheduled to return to Jakarta.
This working visit confirms the government's commitment to continue to be present in the community, both in encouraging development, accelerating post-disaster recovery, and maintaining harmony in social and religious life in various regions.
