Police Guard the Gas Line of Tasikmalaya, Traffic-prone Area

JAKARTA - The Tasikmalaya City Police have strengthened security on the national road in the Gentong area, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java as the main route for the Garut-Tasikmalaya border which is prone to traffic jams and accidents during Christmas and New Year's Eve security in the 2025 Lilin Lodaya Operation.

"Of course we have one location that is our focus, namely the Gentong Ramp, so that it is orderly and smooth," said Head of the Tasikmalaya City Police AKBP Moh. Faruk Rozi, ANTARA, Sunday, December 21.

He said, the Tasikmalaya City Police had prepared joint personnel to carry out Christmas and New Year security in the Lilin Lodaya 2025 Operation to provide a sense of security and comfort for the people of Tasikmalaya until January 2, 2026.

The legal jurisdiction of the Tasikmalaya City Police, he said, has a national road area that has the potential to be prone to congestion on the Gentong Road, Kadipaten District bordering Garut Regency.

Based on last year's experience, he said, the density of motor vehicle traffic on the line often occurs during the return flow or from Tasikmalaya to Garut.

"In previous years, we usually face traffic congestion during the return flow after the implementation of the school holidays," he said.

He explained that the road was crossed by many vehicles heading to tourist destinations in the East Priangan area such as Pangandaran Beach, Galunggung Mountain, and other tourist attractions.

This Christmas and New Year momentum, he said, coincides with the school holidays so it is predicted that many people from various regions such as Bandung will travel to visit tourist attractions.

"Indeed, many people from Bandung and its surroundings choose to visit tourist destinations, one of which is Pangandaran, the beach in Pangandaran, and several tourist attractions in the city area," he said.

He added that in addition to the potential for vehicle traffic density during the Christmas and New Year holidays, another threat in the Tasikmalaya area is natural disasters so that his party appeals to the public to always be vigilant and careful when passing through disaster-prone areas.

The police, along with other institutions, he said, have also been prepared to take various steps to anticipate and overcome natural disasters so that they do not interfere with vehicle traffic flows and community activities.

"The potential for natural disasters is also quite high, but we have good cooperation and synergy that we have implemented between the TNI Polri, the city government and all 'stakeholders', hopefully we can implement disaster management," he said.
