Two Truck Drivers with Rp2 Million in Penjaringan

JAKARTA - The Metro Penjaringan Police Criminal Unit arrested two perpetrators of a robbery against a driver at TL Bridge 3, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta.

The two are known as DF (28) and AZ (34). From the hands of the two perpetrators, the police confiscated a sharp-edged weapon of the type of celurit which was suspected of being used to commit the robbery.

Penjaringan Metro Police Chief AKBP Agus Ady Wijaya said the two perpetrators were arrested several hours after the extortion took place.

"The perpetrator managed to take a total of Rp2 million in cash, two units of electronic toll cards with a value of Rp1.6 million, B1 driver's license, B2 driver's license, C driver's license, vehicle registration certificate, and two units of the victim's ATM cards," said AKBP Agus when confirmed, Sunday, December 21.

The extortion was carried out by the two perpetrators against the victim MA, a truck driver with the modus operandi of intimidation using sharp weapons at TL Bridge 3.

"Suddenly the two perpetrators approached the victim's car and put their bodies into the right and left door windows of the car which was stopped," he said.

The two perpetrators immediately pointed a small knife and a small knife at the victim, the driver and the kernet.

"This perpetrator asked for the wallet owned by the victim and the witness, because under the threat of the victim giving what the perpetrator asked for," he said.

The two victims then reported to the Metro Penjaringan Police. After receiving the report, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Metro Penjaringan Police through the Resmob Team of the Metro Penjaringan Police immediately went to the scene to look for the perpetrator.

Both perpetrators were arrested at their rented house in the villages of Muka and Angke.

"We secured it, the perpetrators admitted their actions. The perpetrator admitted that he had used the money from extortion. The perpetrator and the evidence we took to the Metro Penjaringan Police for further investigation," he said.

As a result of his actions, the two perpetrators were charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Law (KUHP) concerning extortion with a maximum penalty of nine years in prison.
