AU Helicopter Lands in Lumpur to Deliver Logistics to Aceh Tamiang

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Air Force's EC-725/H225M Caracal helicopter landed on a runway full of thick mud to deliver logistical assistance to residents affected by the Aceh Sumatra flood in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Friday (19/12).

The Head of the TNI AU Information Service, First Marshal TNI I Nyoman Suadnyana, when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta, Saturday, said that the effort to send logistics by air was carried out because land access could not be used to distribute logistics to Aceh Tamiang.

"This step is taken to accelerate the distribution of assistance to areas with limited land access," added I Nyoman.

He explained that the landing of the helicopter must be done carefully because the contour of the uneven runway.

The mud that has not dried is visible in about 30 centimeters or the equivalent of an adult's calf when viewed from a video received by ANTARA from Dispenau.

Meanwhile, another Caracal helicopter with registration number HT-7202 landed in a river in Segene Village, Central Aceh Regency, to deliver a one-ton aid.

"Distribution is also carried out to Musara Alun Field and Kekuyang Village, Central Aceh Regency, with each one ton of logistics," explained I Nyoman.

Until now, the activity of delivering logistics using helicopters to difficult-to-reach areas is still ongoing.

I Nyoman continued that the Indonesian Air Force continued to deploy helicopters to penetrate remote areas and even the most difficult terrain to ensure logistics reach the disaster site.

"The Indonesian Air Force is committed to being present quickly and appropriately in every humanitarian mission to ensure that the assistance can be received by the disaster-affected community," said I Nyoman.
