Energy and Mineral Resources: Private Gas Station Quota in 2026 Consider Consumption Pattern
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is calculating the amount of fuel quota to be given to private gas stations in 2026.
Director General of Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Laode Sulaeman said that his party was considering the trend of increasing public demand in providing quotas for private SPBU business entities.
"The policies that will be taken will certainly also be influenced by consumption patterns or demand for fuel," said Laode, quoted on Saturday, September 20.
Laode said, the government is aware of the trend of purchasing non-subsidized fuel, including fuel from private gas stations, which has increased throughout 2025.
"We see that the demand is now higher, yes. Even today the demand is high. But, the percentage (increase in quotas) I can't say yet, yes," continued Laode.
Previously, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that his party was counting the fuel quota for private gas stations in 2026.
However, Bahlil joked that the calculation of the fuel quota was only carried out for business entities that were considered to comply with government regulations. Meanwhile, for companies that do not comply with government regulations have not been included in the calculation of the quota.
"If those who are orderly to the country's regulations, I have counted. If those who are not orderly, I have not counted," Bahlil told the media, Friday, December 19.
Bahlil also did not want to mention which business entity was meant not to follow government rules. He also said that his party would not be lenient towards business entities that tried to regulate or fight the state by not obeying the rules.
"Private bodies that try to regulate and fight the state, do not obey the rules of the state, yes, wait for the date of the game," he said.
