Not Just Relying on Magnite, Nissan is Preparing a Line of New Models until 2027 in India
JAKARTA - Nissan India is preparing to open a new chapter with an aggressive strategy to strengthen its product portfolio in the domestic market. So far, Nissan has been more prominent in the export market with models such as Magnite, Kicks, Sunny, and Micra.
However, the conditions in the local market look different from Magnite as the only model sold to Indian consumers at the moment. The situation will soon change, because in the next two years Nissan is preparing a series of new model launches.
The first plan starts with the launch of the 2026 Magnite model, as reported by Rushlane, Saturday, December 20. Although it does not bring significant changes, this compact SUV will get cosmetic updates and feature updates.
The engine options are expected to remain the same, namely a 1.0-liter NA gasoline with 72 PS and a 1.0-liter turbo engine with 100 PS. Magnite is known as one of the safest models in its class thanks to its five-star Global NCAP rating, as well as a strong rival for Maruti Fronx and Renault Kiger.
The next use comes from the launch of the latest SUV called Tekton which is expected to arrive in February. This model will play in the 4.2-4.4 meter SUV segment, challenging big names such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, to Honda Elevate.
Nissan Tekton is built on the CMF-B platform, just like the latest generation Renault Duster which is scheduled to launch in India on January 26. Despite sharing the base, the design and character of the two are claimed to be totally different.
Tekton is expected to be available in gasoline and hybrid engine options, including an AWD variant for the highest level. After Tekton, Nissan will introduce a new MPV called Gravite in March.
This family car is suspected to be based on the CMF-A+ platform like the Renault Triber, but carries a more assertive design identity. The silhouette looks sporty with a sturdy appearance, combined with the characteristic C-shaped grille and headlights that are Nissan's latest design language.
Not stopping there, Nissan is also preparing a 7-seat SUV based on Tekton. This model is not just an enlarged version, but a completely different product.
This was confirmed by Nissan India Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa. The new SUV will use the CMF-B platform with a longer wheelbase to accommodate three rows of seats. Its launch is planned for 2027.
To strengthen its product line, Nissan is also expanding its dealer network as a marketing strategy. From the current 150 showrooms, the number is targeted to be 200 when Tekton launches, and will increase to 250 showrooms by 2027.
This expansion will also be supported by an increase in sales and service personnel in the next two years. With an aggressive new product lineup and strengthening of the distribution network, Nissan confirms its ambition to return to being a major player in the Indian market.
