BWF World Tour Finals 2025: Sabar/Reza Meet World Number One
JAKARTA - The men's doubles Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani met the world number one pair Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae from South Korea in the semifinals of the 2025 BWF World Tour Finals.
Sabar/Reza secured a ticket to the semifinals after winning the last group match against Chiu Hsiang Chieh/Wang Chi-Lin (Taiwan) with a final score of 21-19, 20-22, 21-15 at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium, Hangzhou, China. on Friday, December 19 night.
The 2025 SEA Games gold medallist managed to win two out of three matches in the qualifying phase. Another victory was obtained when facing Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee from Malaysia in the first match.
The two victories made them finish in second place in the group, a place that qualified for the semifinals. However, in the semifinals, their test will be very heavy.
On paper, Sabar/Reza have a less than good record against Kim/Seo. From their two competitive meetings, they have never won - the most recent two-set defeat came in the group stage of this tournament.
Kim/Seo, who are the first seeds, qualified from the preliminary round with the status as group champions. They managed to sweep the three matches they played.
The clash between Sabar/Reza against Kim/Seo will take place in the afternoon. They will compete in the afternoon session which will only start at 16.00 WIB.
Sabar/Reza is the only Indonesian representative who managed to reach the semifinals from the five representatives who took part in this tournament. From the men's doubles, they qualified with Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, who did not win any matches in the group stage.
Meanwhile, the other three representatives who failed in the group stage were the women's singles Putri Kusuma Wardani, the mixed doubles Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, and the men's singles Jonatan Christie.
