Smoke Grenade Attack in Taipei, One Dead, Suicide Bomber
JAKARTA - One person was killed and eight others were injured after a man threw a smoke grenade into a Taipei subway station and then swung a knife at residents in a business district.
As a result of the smoke grenade incident, a man in his 50s was rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack and was later pronounced dead, according to a CNA news agency report on Friday, December 18.
Reported by ANTARA from Kyodo, the perpetrator allegedly threw a smoke grenade near one of the exits of the Taipei MRT Main Station at around 17.30 local time. The smoke spread to the station platform.
The man then headed north and attacked people in a shopping mall near Zhongshan MRT Station. He then committed suicide by jumping from the building, the report said.
