Good News! The Repair of Padang-Bukittinggi Road via Lembah Anai Has Reached Around 90 Percent

JAKARTA - The repair of the national road from Padang City to Bukittinggi through the Anai Valley is soon completed and will soon be fully traveled by vehicles. Until now, the road repair which had been interrupted due to landslides has reached about 90 percent.

"Meanwhile, we report that in West Sumatra, the national road Padang-Bukittinggi through the Anai Valley is still in the acceleration phase of repair with progress reaching about 90 percent," said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Pratikno in his statement, Friday, December 19.

The national road that connects the western coastal area with the central area of West Sumatra, last Tuesday has been opened to two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles. The opening was carried out after the acceleration of post-flood and landslide handling in West Sumatra, late February.

Considering that the Anai Valley route has a strategic role as the lifeline of the West Sumatra economy as well as being part of the important Padang-Bukittinggi-Pekanbaru corridor that supports regional economic activities.

Pratikno added that in addition to the Lembah Anai route, acceleration of handling was also carried out on the Padang Pariaman-Agam section.

"The Padang Pariaman-Agam provincial road via Malalak is currently mostly accessible, although there are still several points that require further handling," continued Pratikno.

In addition to West Sumatra, Pratikno said, acceleration of repairs was also carried out on connectivity routes in North Sumatra, such as Padangsidimpuan, South Tapanuli, Mandailing Natal, and Central Tapanuli.

"Most of them have recovered," he said. However, he reminded the public that there were still several landslides and landslides in those sections.

"There is also the use of emergency bridges that require extra vigilance from users," he continued.

Pratikno ensured that road repairs continued to be rushed so that community activities could resume smoothly. Cleaning and repair efforts were carried out with the support of heavy equipment and the construction of Bailey bridges.
