BWF World Tour Finals 2025: Only Sabar/Reza to the Semifinal

JAKARTA - The men's doubles Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani became the only Indonesian representative who managed to step into the semifinals of the 2025 BWF World Tour Finals (WTF) in Hangzhou, China.

Sabar/Reza secured the four-big ticket after winning the last group match against Chiu Hsiang-chieh/Wang Chi-lin (China Taipei) with a final score of 21-19, 20-22, and 21-15 on Friday, December 19, 2025.

"Of course, it's very happy, very happy in the last game in this group stage game we can win the game," said Sabar.

The 2025 SEA Games gold medallist collected two victories during the group stage to keep their hopes alive in the season-ending tournament.

They were able to win another match against Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee. Meanwhile, they lost to Kim Won-ho/Seo Seung-jae from South Korea.

"We feel that our performance here is quite good, the performance continues from yesterday's SEA Games. The evaluation will be further added later on the endurance on the field because it is also getting stronger here, right?" said Reza.

Sabar/Reza qualified for the semifinals to accompany Kim/Seo who were the Group A champions. The world number one pair managed to score perfect points after winning all three matches.

Indonesia has a total of five representatives in this tournament, but the journey of the other four representatives ended in the group stage. From the women's and men's singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani and Jonatan Christie failed to advance to the knockout round.

The other two representatives who failed to reach the semifinals were Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.
