Growing 34 Percent, KAI Commuter Has Served 2,300 Farmers-Traders Train Passengers
JAKARTA - KAI Commuter has recorded significant growth in the Farmer-Trader Train service since it began operating in early December 2025. It is recorded that the number of users of this service has reached around 2,300 passengers.
The number of passengers is the accumulation of the beginning of operation from December 1 to December 18, 2025.
For information, the train consists of seven Merak-Rangkasbitung trips and seven Rangkasbitung-Merak trips. All trips serve 11 stations, namely Rangkasbitung-Jambu Baru-Catang-Cikeusal-Walantaka-Serang-Karangantu-Tonjong Baru-Cilegon-Krenceng-Merak. The travel fare is set at Rp3,000, the same as the general passenger fare on KRL.
VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Karina Amanda said the growth showed a positive response from the public to transportation services designed to support the mobility of farmers and traders at affordable costs.
"Since our first operation on December 1 to December 18, we have transported more than 2,300 passengers on farmers and traders' trains. There is an increase of about 34 percent for passengers," Karina said in a press conference in Jakarta, Friday, December 19.
Karina said KAI Commuter will continue to carry out socialization so that this service is better known and used by the community, especially to encourage economic movement in the region.
"We continue to socialize with the public to want to use the farmer and trader service train because this is an affordable transportation service and can really help the community," he said.
In terms of operations, KAI Commuter also conducts continuous evaluation by receiving various inputs from service users. This evaluation is the basis for improving the quality of services in the future.
"From the service side, we continue to evaluate, we also receive input from service users of course. So we hope that these inputs can be the basis for us to continue to improve the service," said Karina.
Regarding ease of access, Karina said that user responses so far have been quite positive. The design of the interior layout of the train is considered to help passengers to more easily mobilize, especially when getting on and off the train.
"The feedback is quite positive, because from the side of the interior layout design it also helps passengers to easily mobilize up and down the train. So so far it is still positive," he explained.
KAI Commuter also opens opportunities for the development of services, including the possibility of extending the route to Tanah Anang, while still considering the needs of the community and the results of coordination with PT KAI (Persero) and the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA).
"We will definitely evaluate the needs of the community and coordinate with KAI and DJKA to answer further needs," said Karina.
Meanwhile, in order to maintain the safety and comfort of travel, KAI Commuter is currently still limiting the baggage of passengers to a maximum of two suitcases per person.
"We consider this two-box restriction to be the most ideal to maintain passenger safety when boarding and disembarking trains. In the future, we will certainly evaluate it," he said.
