Primacom Will Not Adopt Direct to Cell Starlink Without Government Permission
Primacom, a provider of communication solutions, does not want to rush to bring the Direct to Cell Starlink technology if it is already present in Indonesia. They will wait for regulatory clarity.
For now, the Direct to Cell Starlink technology is still in the testing phase in the United States. Primacom admitted that he was still monitoring the stability of the technology while waiting for the technology to be expanded to more areas.
In addition to waiting for stability, Primacom is also waiting for government regulations. The company claims to always comply with applicable laws in Indonesia. This will be Primacom's top priority.
The company emphasized that the adoption of Direct to Cell would not be possible if the government had not given the green light. They are committed to always following the rules set by the government.
"Direct to Cell is still being studied by the government. So, even though this technology can be, in terms of regulation, the government may have many considerations," said Andy Liminata, Assistant Vice President of the Product Support Department at Primacom, on Friday, December 19.
In terms of internet network stability, Primacom also admitted to being cautious in bringing Direct to Cell in Indonesia. Although Starlink already has a fairly large name, the company needs to maintain the reputation it has built over the past few years.
If the service brought in is not stable, it is considered very risky for the company's image in the future. Primacom does not want customers to feel disappointed due to inconsistent service performance.
Basically, every Starlink product that will be distributed in Indonesia has gone through a strict quality check process. This step is taken to ensure that the solutions offered are in line with what SpaceX offers.
Until now, Primacom is still waiting for official news regarding when Starlink will release the Direct to Cell feature. The regulatory framework for this feature is also expected to be issued before the technology is officially distributed.
