Kejari Assures Not to Intervene in Kajari HSU-Kasi Intel Kejari HSU Caught in OTT KPK

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has confirmed that it will not intervene in the case of prosecutors in Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU), South Kalimantan (Kalsel), who were caught in the hands-on-hands operation (OTT) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday, December 18.

The prosecutors were the Head of the Regional Attorney's Office (Kajari) HSU Albertinus Parlinggoman Napitupulu and the Head of the Intelligence Section (Kasi Intel) of the Regional Attorney's Office (Kejari) HSU Asis Budianto.

"We will respect every legal process and we will not intervene. Please do it, and this is a momentum for us to improve," said Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna in Jakarta, Friday, quoted by Antara.

Currently, Anang has not been able to comment on the arrest of the two prosecutors.

Regarding whether the handling of the case will be transferred to the Attorney General's Office, he also could not confirm.

"We'll just wait. I, 'kan, can't confirm, I haven't received official information, I haven't received it, that's all," he said.

On Thursday (18/12), the KPK carried out an OTT in Hulu Sungai Utara Regency, South Kalimantan, and the KPK arrested six people, including the Head of the Hulu Sungai Utara District Attorney's Office, Albertinus Parlinggoman Napitupulu and the Head of the Intelligence Section of the Hulu Sungai Utara District Attorney's Office, Asis Budianto. Both were arrested for alleged acts of extortion.

In addition to arresting the prosecutor, the KPK also seized evidence of cash of hundreds of millions of rupiah.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said that his party was in intensive communication with the Attorney General's Office regarding this arrest.

Budi explained that both the KPK and the Attorney General's Office have the same vision and mission and have the same commitment in eradicating corruption.

"Of course, they have the same vision and mission, as well as the same strong commitment in efforts to eradicate corruption, including by being caught in the South Kalimantan region," he said.
