English: Instead of Electric Cars, Jetour Indonesia Would Prefer to Present Hybrids in the Next Model
JAKARTA - While a number of Chinese car brands are aggressively offering electric vehicles in Indonesia, Jetour is choosing a different strategy. This company wants to first strengthen its identity as an SUV manufacturer before seriously entering the electrification market in the country.
Jetour Motor Indonesia Marketing Director Ranggy Radiansyah, said that the plan to present a pure electric car or battery electric vehicle (BEV) will not be realized in the near future. His party is still conducting research.
"We are still researching, still studying internally. Including what we are showing at GIIAS and GJAW is also part of the study. So we don't have any information or final decision to launch in Indonesia or not," said Ranggy on the sidelines of the Jetour T2 Media Ride activity in BSD, Tangerang, Thursday, December 18.
At the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025, Jetour had a chance to showcase one BEV model as a display, namely the Jetour X20e electric city car. This model is still in the development and market evaluation stage.
Regarding the estimated price, Ranggy said his party was preparing a strategy so that the X20e price tag could compete with models of a class that had already come before, such as the BYD Atto 1, Changan Lumin, and Wuling Air ev.
"Can it be competitive? Our goal is to provide options, and from the price we certainly want to be competitive and exceed consumer expectations. Soon, so just wait," he continued.
Before the X20e, Jetour also presented another electric model, the X50e. The electric SUV debuted at the 2025 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) and until now its status is still in the market study stage.
"In terms of global portfolio, we already have BEV products. But at the moment it is not a focus. We are ready to lead to electrification, and present PHEV as a second option for consumers," concluded Ranggy.
